Angoor Adda has not been handed over to Afghanistan; however, Pakistan Army constructed a gate for the Kabul government in Afghan area as a gift. Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan and a peaceful solution to the Afghan issue will have to be found. Pakistan hosted millions of Afghan refugees despite difficulties. He said terrorists from Afghanistan take shelter in the camps of the Afghan refugees. Pakistan will not allow its soil to be used against any other country. Terrorism is the major issue for Pakistan and over five thousand Pakistani soldiers have so far sacrificed their lives in war on terror.

Unprovoked firing from Afghanistan- Pakistan strongly protests against border firing from Afghan side

Afghan Charge d'Affaires was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey Pakistan's strong protest over unprovoked firing by the Afghan forces at Pakistani forces on Torkham border crossing. Two soldiers and nine civilians including women and children were inpjured in the incident.  The Afghan Charge d'Affaires was told that the firing incident was contrary to the spirit of friendly relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Afghan side was urged to thoroughly investigate the incident and share the findings with Pakistani authorities. It was further emphasized that all steps should be taken for avoiding recurrence of such incidents in the future. The firing was aimed at disrupting the construction of a gate well inside Pakistani territory at the border. The gate is being constructed to facilitate the cross-border movement of people and vehicles. It was conveyed to the Afghan side that the regulation of movements at Torkham is part of government's policy to strengthen border management. Therefore, Afghan government's cooperation was needed as it would enhance mutual security and help combat the threat of terrorism.

At about 2120 hrs yesterday Afghan Security forces resorted to unprovoked firing on Pakistani side at Torkham Gate. Pakistani security forces responded to Afghan firing effectively. It may be mentioned that Torkham is the most frequented crossing point at Pak-Afghan Border and recently even most of the terrorists have been found using this gate for entry. In order to check movement of terrorists through Torkham, Pakistan is constructing a gate on own side of the border as a necessity to check unwanted and illegal movement.

About growing Indo-US relations, he says broader geo-political factors are involved particularly the US policy of containing China where India fits in. He expresses the confidence that in view of effective diplomacy of Pakistan, India would not be able to get another exception this time to make an entry into Nuclear Suppliers Group. Pakistan has been urging that there should be criteria-based approach for inclusion of non-NPT countries into NSG and the criteria should be equally applied to all. Pakistan's point of view has received considerable support from many countries. Our point of view was generally accepted at the meeting of NSG in Vienna and hoped that same would be the result at its forthcoming meeting in South Korea. Earlier, the members emphasized the need for accelerating the work on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project in accordance with the decisions arrived at the all parties' conference.


UN expresses concern over Israeli excessive use of force against Palestinians

United Nation has termed Israel's occupation of the West Bank as major cause for Palestinian “humanitarian vulnerabilities.” Expressing serious concern about 'Israel's excessive use of force, UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says in its annual report that thirty Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers, which is the highest figure recorded since 2006. The report further says as many as over four hundred Palestinian children were also held by Israel by the end of year 2015.


Mohammad Amir gets six months visa of UK: PCB

Pakistan’s left-hand fast bowler Mohammad Amir has finally gotten his travelling documents for UK on Monday. An official of Pakistan Cricket Board says that Amir had received his visa for the England tour and will travel with the team on June 18. According to the Briton’s laws the player has been given sports visa for six months. The new Coach of Pakistan’s cricket team Mickey Arthur has assured full support to the fast bowler during the tour.

Boom Boom keen to play in Big Bash League

Pakistani flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Khan Afridi has expressed an interest to play in the KFC Big Bash League in Australia. Afridi, who was dumped ahead of his country's upcoming tour of England, is currently playing for Hampshire in England's domestic T20 competition and will continue with the county in the one-day tournament that follows. Though out of favour with the new Pakistan selectors, the 36-year-old says he is keen to continue playing domestic cricket, and wants to use the English 50-over tournament as a platform for a national comeback. 

PCB offers bowling coach job to Azhar

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has offered former Test all-rounder Azhar Mahmood the position of the bowling coach of the national team, which is set to tour England this month. Pakistan will tour England this month for four Tests, five ODIs and a one Twenty20. The first Test will kick off on July 14. According to a PCB the board had offered the job to Azhar, which would also include duties of the assistant coach. “After completing his contractual commitments with his county in England, Azhar is most likely to take up the assignment,”

Five pugilists to leave for last Baku tonight

Five Pakistani boxers will fly to Baku, Azerbaijan from Islamabad Airport tonight to chip in the last world qualifying round for this summer’s Olympics. “This is the only remaining chance for our pugilists to book a place in Olympics,” Secretary Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) Iqbal Hussain said. Boxers from around the world will feature in these qualifiers, scheduled to be held from June 16 to 25.

PHF's 5-A-Side Ramzan tournament from June 18

5-A-Side Hockey has recently been introduced by Federation of International Hockey (FIH). This shorter version of Hockey is played on smaller pitch, which is almost 1/2 of a regular hockey field. There are less stoppages and pace is faster. Six balanced teams shall be constituted by PHF to participate in the event. The PHF is organizing the first ever 5-a-side tournament at National Hockey Stadium, Lahore from June 18 to 25.
