Nation celebrates 70th Independence Anniversary tomorrow with a renewed pledge to make Pakistan a truly Islamic welfare state.


President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Vice Premier will attend the flag hoisting ceremony to mark the Independence Day at the Parliament House tomorrow morning.


Army Chief has reiterated the firm resolve to continue the war against terrorism till durable peace and stability is restored in the country.


In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, have martyred three more youth in Shopian district.


Iranian Parliament has approved foreign operations of the elite Revolutionary Guards in response to US sanctions.




The Nation will celebrate the 70th Independence Anniversary of motherland  tomorrow with a renewed pledge to safeguard the country against any threat and make it a true Islamic welfare state as envisioned by the founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.        


The day will dawn with thirty-one gun salute in the federal and twenty-one gun salute in the provincial capitals.    


After the Fajar prayers, special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country and success of the long drawn struggle of Kashmiris.


The main event of the day will be the flag hoisting ceremony at the Parliament House.


President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yong will jointly unfurl the national flag at the ceremony.


The President will address the nation on this  occasion.

The President along with Prime Minister, Vice Premier of China, Chairman Senate and Speaker National Assembly will also lay wreath at Monument of unsung heroes of democracy at the Parliament House tomorrow.


A meeting presided by Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb was held in the Parliament House today to review arrangements for the occasion.


A Fireworks demonstration in connection with celebrations of Independence Day is being organized at Parade Ground Shakarparian



Earlier, the Chinese Vice-Premier along with a high powered delegation arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to Pakistan. to participate in the Independence Day celebration.


According to Foreign Office, Vice Premier Wang Yang is undertaking the visit on the directions of President Xi Jinping as a special gesture to participate in 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations of Pakistan.


During his visit, he will attend the flag- hoisting ceremony tomorrow as a special guest.


Wang Yong will call on President Mamnoon Hussain and  Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and will participate in the inaugural ceremony of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, besides witnessing the signing of agreements between the two countries.    




Flag hoisting ceremonies will also be held at the provinces capitals, district headquarters and important national institutions.


The main function of Independence Anniversary in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, will be change of guard ceremony at Mausoleum of  national poet, Allama Iqbal.


In Karachi, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Mazar-e-Quaid-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.


The change of guards ceremony will also be held at Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam where a contingent of Pakistan Navy will assume the guard duties at the Mazar.


In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the main function in connection with Independence Anniversary will be held at Governor House in Peshawar tomorrow.


Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra will hoist the national flag.


Like other parts of the country, the 70th Independence Anniversary will also be celebrated with zest and zeal in Balochistan tomorrow.


The major event will be held in Provincial Assembly where Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri will hoist National Flag.




In Azad Kashmir, flag hoisting ceremonies will be held at all District and Tehsil headquarters of the liberated territory.


In Muzaffarabad, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at President House where AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan will raise the national flag.


The main event of Independence Anniversary will be held in Gilgit.




Aerobatic teams from Turkey and Saudi Arabia will perform along with Pakistan Air Force in Islamabad tomorrow to mark 70th Independence anniversary of Pakistan


The special appearance of "Solo Turk", the famous Turkish aerobatic team of Turkish Air Force and the internationally acclaimed "Saudi Hawks" of Royal Saudi Air Force alongside PAF aircraft will add colours to the mega event.


Besides the two teams from brotherly countries, JF-17 Thunder will also perform.


Another salient feature of the show is the Tri-Services free fall display of Special Services personnel.




Inter Services Public Relations and Pakistan Air Force have separately released special patriotic songs on the occasion of Independence Day.


The song titled 'Ae Watan Tera Bhala Ho' has been released by ISPR and its vocalist is Shaqat Amanat Ali Khan.


The song released by PAF is titled as 'Surkhrooh'. Its singer is Bilal Ashraf and its writer is Syed Ehsan Abbas.



Special Azadi Train is continuing its country-wide journey in connection with the 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations of the country.


The train departed for other destinations after overnight stay at cant Railways Station in Peshawar this morning.


Azadi Train galleries and cultural floats attracted a large number of people at Peshawar cant Railway Station.


Thousands of people visited Azadi Train Galleries and cultural floats.




Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa participated the funeral prayers of Army personnel martyred in a suicide bomb blast in Quetta last night.    


According to ISPR, Governor and Chief Minister Balochistan, Interior Minister and Commander Southern Command  also attended the funeral.


The Army Chief also visited CMH hospital Quetta and inquired after the health of injured.


Speaking on the occasion, General Qamar Javed Bajwa vowed to continue war against terrorism till restoration of durable peace and stability in the country.


He stressed the need for coordinated efforts among all state institutions to completely root out the menace of terrorism.




Ministry of Religious Affairs has made elaborate arrangements at Jeddah Airport to fully facilitate and guide the intending pilgrims arriving from Pakistan.  


Talking to our correspondent Zahid Hameed at the airport, Incharge Jeddah Hajj Terminal Inam-ul-Haq said a fast track system has been established under which Hujjaj are sent to Makkah within forty to forty-five minutes after going through the necessary documents verification. 


Inam-ul-Haq said a medical mission has also been set up at the airport where doctors and paramedical staff remain present round the clock to provide timely treatment and free medicines to pilgrims.



In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three more youth in Shopian district, today. 


The youth were martyred by troops during a siege and search operation in Awneera area of the district. The troops blasted a mosque and four residential houses during the violent military operation that began yesterday.


The killings led to forceful protests in the area. Many civilians were injured when troops resorted to pellet firing on the protesters.


Earlier, two Indian soldiers were killed and several others injured in an attack on the forces’ personnel, who were part of the operation.


All trains running between Badgam and Srinagar and Islamabad and Banihal remained suspended for the second day today.




Iran's parliament has overwhelmingly approved more than half a billion dollars in funding for the country's missile programme and foreign operations of the elite Revolutionary Guards. The Parliament took the step in response to United States sanctions.


A total of 240 parliamentarians out of 244 present voted for the bill.

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during next twelve hours.


However, rain-thunderstorm with few heavy falls with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Zhob divisions,Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.


Light rain/drizzle is also expected at a few places in Sindh and Balochistan  coast.
