Minister for Foreign Affairs has said the whole nation stands united against terrorism.


Nation will celebrate 70th Independence Day on Monday with zeal and fervor.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Khawaja Asif says terrorists will not succeed in their nefarious designs as the whole nation stands united against terrorism.


Strongly condemning the terrorist attack in Quetta at Pishin Stop, he said such cowardly acts of terrorism cannot shake our unflinching resolve against this menace.


Khawaja Asif said the sacrifices rendered by the nation and security forces will not go in vain.


He expressed heartiest condolences with the bereaved families of those martyred in attack in Quetta and prayed for early recovery of the injured.



A high level emergency meeting was held in Quetta to review law and order situation in Balochistan in the wake of suicide bomb attack on a security force’s vehicle at Pishin Stop.


Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri presided over the meeting.


Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz, Provincial Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and other high ranking civil and military officials attended the meeting.



Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Aamir Riaz visited the Civil Hospital in Quetta. They inquired after the health condition of the people injured in the suicide bomb attack.


The chief minister directed the health officials to provide all possible medical facilities to the people injured in the incident.



The 70th Independence Anniversary of Pakistan is being celebrated across the country on Monday with a renewed pledge to safeguard the motherland against any threat and make it a true Islamic welfare state as envisioned by founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.    


The day will dawn with thirty-one gun salute in the federal and twenty-one gun salute in the provincial capitals.    


Special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country, unity of the Muslim Ummah and success of the long drawn struggle of Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.


The main event of the day will be flag hoisting ceremony at Parliament House premises. President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yong will jointly unfurl the national flag at the ceremony.


The President will address the nation on the occasion.


Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special day-long transmission on the Independence Day.



The special Azadi train left Peshawar for Rawalpindi on Sunday morning.


Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Asad Qaiser, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Saqib Raza Aslam, Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railway Hanif Gul and a large number of people saw off the train.


Speaking on the occasion, the speaker appreciated efforts of Pakistan Railway for displaying historic pictures in the train.


Referring to China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the speaker said it will usher new era of development and prosperity.


Radio Pakistan Peshawar correspondent reports that the Azadi train will reach Karachi on 25th of this month after passing through different cities.  



In Karachi, six persons were killed and four injured when fire broke out in a van near Karachi Zoological Garden on Sunday morning.


According to police sources, the dead and injured belong to the same family were going for a picnic when fire broke out in the van.


Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwer Siyal has sought a report from AIG Karachi in this regard.



In Occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred three more youth in Shopian district, on Sunday.


The youth were martyred by the troops during a siege and search operation in Awneera area of the district.


The troops blasted a mosque and four residential houses during the operation in the area.


Earlier, two Indian army personnel were killed and several other injured in an attack on the forces during joint operation in Awneera.


The violent operation by Indian troops led to forceful protests in the area. Many civilians were injured when troops resorted to pellet firing on the protesters.

In Kenya, eleven people have been killed by police in a crackdown on protests against the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in the western city of Kisumu. 


Meanwhile, former UN head Kofi Annan who mediated during that crisis, warned Kenya's leaders to be careful with their rhetoric and actions in this tense atmosphere.
