Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says the government believes in politics of service instead of chanting hollow slogans.

 

He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of Shorkot -Khanewal section of Motorway, M-4 in Shorkot today.

 

Prime Minister said the government is constructing a network of Motorways and Highways to provide better communication facilities to the people across the country.

 

Nawaz Sharif said the government has turned around the national economy due to its effective economic policies.

 

He said a number of power projects are also being constructed with the help of China to overcome the energy crisis.

 

He said world financial institutions are appreciating our performance and rupee is at stable position while the foreign exchange reserves today stand at record high  level. 

 

Nawaz Sharif said the government is serving all segments of the society including the farmers, industrialists and the common man.

 

He said people stand behind the politics of progress and development and have rejected the negative politics of some elements.

                                                              

Earlier, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Shorkot-Khanewal Section of M-4 in Shorekot. 

 

The project will be completed at a cost of around twenty-two billion rupees in two years.

The nation celebrates Independence Day tomorrow with a renewed pledge to safeguard the motherland  against any threat and make it a true Islamic welfare state as envisioned by founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.  

       

The day will dawn with thirty one gun salute in the federal capital and twenty one gun salute in the provincial metropolitans.   

      

Special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country, unity of the Muslim Ummah and success of the long drawn struggle of  Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.

             

The main event of the day will be a flag hoisting ceremony at Convention Center in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain will be the chief guest. He will address the nation on the occasion.

   

Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special full day transmission on the Independence Day.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says all the countries in the SAARC region have a lot of potential develop together while utilizing each other's potentials and energies.

 

He made remarks while chairing a review meeting on the upcoming SAARC Finance Minster's conference to be held in Islamabad on 25th and 26th of this month.

 

Talking to World Bank's Country Director for Pakistan Patchamuthu Illangovan in Islamabad Ishaq Dar said  the government has successfully implemented economic reforms during last three years and the process will continue in future.

 

The World Bank Director congratulated the Finance Minister on completing the International Monetary Fund program successfully.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir says the economy of Pakistan is rapidly improving due to effective policies of the government during the last three years.

   

Talking to media in Islamabad today, he said  due to stable economic situation new job opportunities are being created and the government is committed to provide jobs to the youth on purely on merit basis.

US Air Force Chief, General David L. Goldfein called on Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman in Islamabad today.

 

During the meeting they discussed matters of professional interest.

 

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman shared the successes of Pakistan Air Force during Operation Zarb-e-Azb in the country.

 

General David appreciated the leading role of Pakistan Air force in war against terrorism.

Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali says the government and army are on the same page for elimination of terrorism from the country.

 

He was addressing special prayer ceremony in connection with Quetta tragedy, arranged by the Faisalabad Bar Association in Faisalabad today.

 

Abid Sher Ali said the government is making all out efforts to maintain law and order situation in the country.

Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani has asked national leadership to demonstrate unity and integrity.

 

Talking to newsmen in Quetta, he urged politician to give up blame game over the National Action Plan and the Parliament should be assigned the task of monitoring the NAP.

 

Raza Rabbani met office bearers of Quetta High Court Bar Association and condoled with them over martyrdom of lawyers in a horrible bomb attack on Monday.

Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid says PTI Chief Imran Khan is trying to divide the nation on Independence day, which stands for national unity.

 

In a statement, he said Imran Khan gives the enemy an opportunity to mock at by staging protest on the Independence Day every year.

 

Meanwhile, in an interview  Information Minister said Pakistan came into being due to democratic and constitutional struggle and real change is possible via politics of parliament and democracy.

      

HAMZA

PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz says the journey to progress and prosperity will continue despite propaganda of the opposition.

 

In a statement, he said The Economist has positioned Pakistan's economy on the fifth number in the world in respect of economic development.

 

He said Imran Khan wants to become prime minister by hook or by crook, but one cannot earn respect by merely leveling baseless allegations and staging sit-ins.

 

IMRAN-RALLY

PTI Chief Imran Khan has said that the nation is united against the menace of terrorism and together we will eliminate this scourge from the country.

 

Addressing a rally in Rawalpindi this evening, he said that being united we can foil the nefarious designs of the enemies of the country.

 

Imran Khan said that police systems in the country should be strengthened to eradicate the roots of terrorism. 

 

Earlier, talking to media in Islamabad PTI Chief said objective of his march is to make the country free from corruption.

 

KASHMIR

In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of people were injured when Indian troops used brute force to prevent people from staging demonstrations and conducting "Referendum March" towards Srinagar's Lal Chowk, today. 

 

Call for the march was jointly given by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, and Hurriyet leaders including  Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

 

The authorities continued to impose strict curfew and other restrictions across the Kashmir Valley on the 36th consecutive day, today, to prevent people from conducting the march.

 

 

UKRAINE-SYRIA

The Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov will meet his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier, to discuss the conflicts in Ukraine and Syria  in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

 

Russia's Foreign Ministry in a statement said today, the meeting follows Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Russia this week where he discussed the Syrian conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

Meanwhile, the United States urged Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to avoid escalating tensions with Russia.

On the third day of the fourth cricket Test against Pakistan at Oval, England in their second innings were 34  for 1, a short while ago.

       

Earlier, Pakistan scored 542 runs in their first inning while England scored  328 runs.

The Islamic State has freed hundreds of civilians used by the militants as human shields while retreating in northern Syria.

 

US-backed forces said today that some of the civilians were able to escape while others were freed.

 

Earlier, US.-backed Kurdish and Arab forces have seized full control of the northern city of Manbij near the Turkish border from Islamic State.
