Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif says the government is constructing a net work of Motorways and Highways to provide better communication facilities to the people across the country.

He was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of Shorkot -Khanewal section of Motorway, M-4 in Shorkot on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said these projects would usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in every nook and corner of the country.

Nawaz Sharif said his government believes in politics of service instead off raising hollow slogans.

He said work on a number of communication projects, costing over eight hundred fifty billion rupees has been initiated by the government over the last one and half years.

The Prime Minister said the government has turned around the national economy due to its effective economic policies.

He said a number of power projects are also underway with the help of China to overcome the energy crisis.



The Prime Minister said world financial institutions are appreciating our performance and rupee is at stable position while the foreign exchange reserves on Saturday stand at record level.    

Nawaz Sharif Said the prices of fertilizers have been cut and in future these will be brought further down to provide relief to peasants.

Prime Minister said people stand behind the politics of progress and development and have rejected the negative politics of some elements.    



Earlier, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Shorkot-Khanewal Section of M-4 in Shorekot. 

Information Minister Pervez Rashid, Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Sun Weidong were also present on the occasion.

The project will be completed at a cost of around twenty-two billion rupees in two years.

After completion, the project will improve the country’s vital north-south road network and promote economic growth, create jobs and ensure regional connectivity.



The nation celebrates Independence Day tomorrow with traditional zeal and a renewed pledge to safeguard the country against any threat and make it a truly Islamic welfare state as envisioned by founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.          

The day will dawn with thirty one gun salute in the federal and twenty one gun salute at the provincial capitals.          

Special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country, unity of the Muslim Ummah and for the success of the long drawn struggle of  Kashmiris after Fajr prayers.           

The main event of the day will be a flag hoisting ceremony at Convention Center in Islamabad where President Mamnoon Hussain will be the chief guest. He will address the nation on the occasion.

In Karachi, the change of guard ceremony will be held at Mazaare-e-Quaid in the morning. A contigent of Pakistan navy will take the command of the Mazaar.

And in Lahore a simple but graceful Change of Guard ceremony will be held at Mazar-e-Iqbal tomorrow morning. People belonging to various segments of society will visit the Mazar to pay tribute to the national poet.     


Flag hoisting ceremonies would also be held at the provincial capitals and district headquarters besides other important national institutions.   

Azadi Train formally started its one month journey from Peshawar yesterday.

The train displaying different aspects of Pakistan movement as well as culture and traditions of the country will stay in Rawalpindi for two days. The general public can visit the train without any ticket.      

Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special full day transmission on the Independence Day.



President Mamnoon Hussain has granted Military awards to officers and men of Pakistan Army, Navy and Air Force on the occasion of Independence Day. 

Major Ali Jawad Khan Shaheed was awarded with Tamgha-i-Jur’at while 04 Soldiers and Officers were granted Sitara-e-Bisalat, 76 Tamgha-i-Basalat, 48 Imtiazi Asnad, 231 COAS Commendation Cards, 19 Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), 85 Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and 112 Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military).

Adviser to the Prime Minister for National History and Literary Heritage, Irfan Siddiqui says Pakistan is much developed on Saturday than it was in 2013.       

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore on Saturday in connection with Independence Day, he said Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah united the whole nation under one flag and one slogan of Pakistan.

Irfan Siddiqui said every Pakistani is of the opinion that the country is steering towards progress and prosperity.

He called upon the scholars and intellectuals to spread the message of hope and peace.



The six member crew of Punjab government helicopter that went missing in Afghanistan on 4th of this month has been safely recovered and arrived in Islamabad on Saturday.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs the crew members included Crew Chief, Muhammad Kausar, Chief pilot, Capt Safdar Hussain, First Officer, Capt Muhammad Shafiq-ur-Rehman, Flight Engineer, Nasir Mahmood, Capt Safdar Ashraf and a Russian navigator, Sergei Sevastianov.

The Ministry says that the crew was released in an inter-tribe exchange on the Pakistan -Afghan border in FATA from where they have been brought to Islamabad.



Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved for the construction of additional class rooms in schools throughout the province under Khadim e Punjab Schools Program.

Chairing a meeting in Lahore on Saturday, he said thousands of additional class rooms will be constructed in the schools at a cost of fifteen billion rupees.

The Chief Minister directed to ensure the best quality in the project with use of advance technology.



Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra says the federal government is in contact with Saudi authorities to solve problems of Pakistani workers in Saudi Arabia.

This he stated while talking to senior minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan in Peshawar on Saturday.

The Governor said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is personally monitoring the situation to facilitate the workers.

He hoped that the issue will soon be settled through diplomatic channels.



Governor Khyber Pakhtoon Khwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra held a meeting with Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai in Quetta.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah says ten billion rupees special development package has been given to Karachi.  

Talking to media men after visiting Federation House in Karachi on Saturday, he said K-4 project is being inaugurated to meet the water needs of the city. 

He said initially 260 million gallon water will be provided to the city through this project.  

Syed Murad Ali Shah said the government is also trying its best to improve health sector in the province.



Sixty six thousand kanals land has been acquired for construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam. 

WAPDA sources told our Peshawar correspondent that owners of the land have been paid forty five billion rupees.

The dam will be completed at a cost of fourteen billion dollars by 2020 and it will generate four thousand five hundred megawatt electricity.

The sources said widening of Karakoram Highway is in progress to facilitate shifting of heavy machinery to site of the dam.



Chairman PEMRA Absaar Alam has said that media should respect decisions of the regulatory authority.

Talking to media persons in Islamabad on Saturday, he said those who have objections on the decisions of authority can knock the doors of judiciary.

He said being the fourth pillar of state, media should demonstrate responsibility in its conduct.



The Azad Kashmir President has summoned the joint session of AJK Legislative Assembly and AJK Council on Tuesday at 10 AM in Muzaffarabad.

The members of Legislative Assembly and Council will elect the new AJK President.



In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that agents of Indian agencies and the puppet administration are bent upon to sabotage Hurriyet leadership’s protest programs by enforcing shutdown during the relaxation hours.

In an interview in Srinagar,Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, urged the people to deal strictly with the miscreants sabotaging the joint Hurriyet programs.

He denounced the authorities for continued imposition of curfew, restrictions and curbs and barring Friday prayers for the fifth week at Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid.
