EU, UN urge end of tensions around Gaza Strip
November 13, 2018

The United Nations and European Union have urged the immediate end of rising tensions surrounding the Gaza Strip.

Talking to media in France, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called it an extremely worrying situation, saying the suffering of the people of Gaza is unimaginable.

The UN chief said the tensions in Gaza should be defused as soon as possible, warning that otherwise it could turn into a "massive tragedy".

Meanwhile, in a written statement, Maja Kocijancic, a spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini has said that the escalation of violence in and around Gaza is very alarming.

She said targeting civilians is unacceptable and stressed both parties to immediately stop all violent actions.

Earlier, three Palestinians were martyred in Israeli air strikes in Gaza Strip.
