August 13, 2020

Dr. Sarfraz Khan (Expert on International Relations): Peshawar BRT project was initiated by the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa three years ago and has to face certain challenges till today. However, this project will facilitate the people of Peshawar to a great extent. It is a huge project but is not fully operational yet. We expect the operationally of this project soon. All of the Peshawar city will be connected to this project and will improve the mobility of people. BRT consists of 27km track and 31 stations while the length of feeder routes is 62 km in which 146 stops have been made to facilitate the people across the city. Prime Minister has inaugurated the long awaited BRT project today which will be the best metro project in the country.

Dr. Zahid Anwar Khan (Expert on International Relations): The important BRT project will be helpful in overcoming the issue of traffic in the capital city of KPK province. The people of the province will now avail comfortable and cheaper transport facility. This mega project is a gift of the PTI government to people of Peshawar. The government must also ensure the construction of such projects in other districts of the province as such projects also provide the job opportunities. The Asian Development Bank and AFD had provided 593 million dollars loan for the project, while the remaining amount was provided by the provincial government. The main track is connected to seven different areas of the city so that the people can travel from their areas in small buses to reach the main route.

Professor Ahmed Jamal (Historian): The inauguration of BRT project in relate to the Independence Day is good development. The Independence Day has vital importance in the history of the country. Our ancestors have sacrificed their lives for an independent state. The agenda of PTI government i.e. a welfare state in the country was the dream of our founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The policies of the PTI government are in right direction. If we analyze the situation of the country when PTI came into power, Pakistan was passing through difficult situation and we were facing a number of challenges. But because of the prudent policies of the present government, Pakistan has gone through the difficult times and we are expecting good times in future.
