Dawn leaks issue handled and resolved prudently: Senate informed
Sheikh Aftab Ahmad says amicable solution to the issue has strengthened democracy in country.
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad has asked political forces to show patience while commenting on Joint Investigation Team formed by the Supreme Court on Panama Papers.
Winding up discussion on a motion moved by Leader of the Opposition and others in the Senate on Friday, the Minister said Prime Minister had voluntarily presented himself and his family for accountability regarding allegations leveled in the Panama Papers.
He said nobody, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is above the law and he will appear before the JIT if needed.
Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said it is the prerogative of the people of Pakistan to decide who will be the next Prime Minister of the country and we should not lose patience.
Taking the floor to add a point, Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid said that the JIT was formed by the Supreme Court and is being monitored so there is no question of government influence during the investigation process.
Regarding the issue of Dawn leaks, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said that amicable solution to the issue has strengthened democracy in the country.
The Minister said some forces wanted to destabilize democratic system over the issue of Dawn leaks but the matter was handled and resolved prudently.
The House offered Fateha for the martyrs of 12th May, 2007 in Karachi.
