PMâ€š PTI Chief agree to continue dialogue with Taliban
Talking to Imran khan‚ Nawaz Sharif stresses unity to eliminate terrorism and restore peace.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan have agreed to continue the dialogue process with Taliban.
The agreement was reached at a meeting between the two leaders in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Talking to Imran Khan‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said it is our collectively responsibility to eliminate all kinds of terrorism and restore peace in the country.
Nawaz Sharif emphasized that there should be total harmony in the nation and the political leadership for the purpose. He said we will have to make concerted efforts for peace without any discrimination or divide.
The Prime Minister said it is his endeavour to restore peace in the country without shedding even a single drop of blood. He said with a view to achieving this cherished objective‚ the government is carrying forward the process of dialogue with full resolve and seriousness as per decision of the All Parties Conference.
The Prime Minister underlined that parties within the Parliament and the outside will have to support the serious efforts for peace.
The Interior Minister briefed the PTI leadership about second phase of the dialogue process. He held out an assurance that during this phase too‚ PTI and other parties would be taken into confidence.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Ifran Siddiqui also briefed the PTI leadership about first phase of the dialogue.
On this occasion‚ PTI Chairman Imran Khan fully endorsed the governmental point of view and appreciated the steps being taken by the Prime Minister for peace in the country.
He gave an assurance that PTI would extend support to the strategy of the government. He agreed with the Prime Minister that there should be solidarity among all representative parties for national objectives and there should be no politicizing.
Later talking to newsmen‚ Imran Khan said it is for the first time that the government has made serious efforts for peace through dialogue and achieved good results.
PTI leader said his meeting with the Prime Minister was positive. He said efforts of Mian Nawaz Sharif for peace are appreciable.
He said anti-dialogue forces are active and meeting of the pro-dialogue forces is a good omen.
Imran Khan said the policy of dialogue has isolated the anti-peace Taliban.
He said Rustam Shah Mohmand has been retained in the governmental dialogue committee because of his experience.
Imran Khan said PTI also proposed to the government that protection of polio workers in North Waziristan should also be included in the agenda of talks with Taliban.
He expressed satisfaction that a consensus has emerged on how to address the challenge of terrorism.
On the occasion‚ Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said a new committee for dialogue has been constituted.
He said he would continue updating Imran Khan on the progress in the dialogue process.
