Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed to review strategy to improve law and order situation in Karachi in view the violent incidents of the city‚ particularly in Lyari.

A spokesperson of the Prime Minister office said in Islamabad that Muhammad Nawaz Sharif today (Wednesday) discussed the law and order situation in Karachi with Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and discussed various options to improve it.

He said the Prime Minister has decided to visit Karachi this week to personally monitor the situation and give new directions to improve law and order there.  

The spokesperson said Director General Rangers also briefed the Prime Minister regarding incidents of violence in Lyari and presented a report in this regard.

He said the Prime Minister during his visit to Karachi will get briefing from all heads of security institutions.

Earlier‚ talking to the Director General of World Health Organization Margaret Chan in Islamabad‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed the government's resolve to make Pakistan a polio free country.    

He said attacks on polio workers cannot shake our resolve to completely wipe out the crippling disease from Pakistan.

He said a comprehensive policy would soon be evolved in consultations with the provincial chief ministers for eradication of polio.

Referring to the menace of terrorism and energy crisis‚ Nawaz Sharif said the government is determined to cope with these challenges effectively.

The WHO Director General appreciated the government's resolve for eradication of polio.
