The G-7 nations have vowed to continue their efforts to contain the devastating climate change, despite US withdrawal from the Paris accord.

They understanding was reached on the first day of two-day talks of G-7 environmental chiefs in Bologna, Italy.

The UN official in charge of implementing the Paris accord, Patricia Espinosa, said America's pull-out would not make any difference in the short-term.

A final communiqué will be issued at end of the meeting on Monday.
