WAPDA Chairman Muzammil Hussain says 969-MW Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project will start full generation by March next year.

He was informing Public Accounts Committee, which met in Islamabad today with its Chairman Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah in the chair. The committee reviewed audit paras of WAPDA for year 2015-16 and 2016-17.           

The WAPDA chairman said filling of the dam will be started in October. Dry test of the turbine will be conducted in January while first unit will start generation in February.       

He said excavation of sixty-eight kilometer tunnels have already been completed one month ahead of its schedule completion.          

Regarding Kicchi Canal, the WAPDA chairman informed the committee that 57 billion rupees have been spent on the project and 45 billion rupees more are required for completion of its first phase.     

He assured the committee that the canal will start irrigating 72000 acres of Dera Bugti by the December.

The Committee directed to complete Noulang and Dadu dams and Kicchi Canal on priority.
