Pakistan, Afghanistan agree on joint anti-polio strategy

The agreement was reached at a two-day regional cross border meeting on Polio Eradication between Balochistan government and Southern Afghanistan in Quetta.
The two sides discussed ways to improve bilateral coordination in improving quality of vaccination in cross-border villages, case surveillance and for transit vaccination points.
Balochistan Health Minister Rehmat Baloch said an estimated eight hundred children are vaccinated at Pakistan-Afghanistan Friendship Gate every day. He said we need to ensure each that every child crossing the border is immunized.
Afghan Kandahar Health Director Dr. Abdul Qayyum Pokhala also emphasized for close coordination and collaboration to eradicate polio .
