In Israel, parliament has dissolved after its two main parties failed to form a government ahead of a deadline, signalling an unprecedented third election within a year.

According to media reports, following neck-to-neck results in the national election in September, both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's party and his rival Benny Gantz's party have been unable to form a coalition government before the deadline.
