United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has made an urgent appeal to international community to inject cash into Afghanistan to avoid economic collapse in war-torn country.

In a statement, he said the Afghan economy is breaking down, with frozen of ten billion dollars assets and development aid compounded by closing of banks and essential services.

Antonio Guterres said we need to find ways to make economy breathe again to prevent humanitarian crisis.

He gave details of the aid distributed by UN agencies across Afghanistan where at least 18 million people, half of the country’s population, are in need of humanitarian assistance.

He said sanctions against Taliban will not only badly affect Afghanistan itself but also the region and rest of the world.
