UNSC to vote on resolution for ceasefire implementation in Yemen next week
January 12, 2019

The United Nations Security Council is expected to vote on a draft resolution next week that seeks establishment of a UN mission to oversee implementation of the cease-fire and withdrawal of rival forces from Yemen's Hodeida port.

The resolution would approve UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' proposal to deploy monitors for an initial period of six months.

The draft resolution says the monitors would oversee the cease-fire in Hodeida and surrounding area, demining operations at Hodeida and smaller ports of Salif and Ras Issa, and redeployment of forces.
