Pakistan and Thailand have made major progress in talks towards a free-trade agreement (FTA) and expect to be able to conclude the pact by next year. 

Deputy Director General of Thailand 's Commerce Ministry's Trade Negotiations Department Sunanta Kangvalkulkij said both countries have already achieved about seventy per cent in the FTA talks.

He said under trade reduction, Thailand has encouraged Pakistan to eliminate tariffs on many key products.

Bilateral trade between the two countries reached 1.01 billion dollars in 2014 and Pakistan is Thailand 's second-largest trading partner in South Asia.
