PM

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has urged religious scholars to present a counter narrative against extremist mindset to realize the dream of peace and harmony in the country.  

Addressing a seminar at Jamia Naeemia in Lahore on Saturday , he said this narrative should be taught to youth at educational institutions.   

The Prime Minister said his government initiated strong and indiscriminate action against terrorists across the country after coming into power and backbone of terrorists has now been broken.

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said the government will foil all conspiracies against the country and forge unity in the society.

He asked religious scholars to come forward to take this war to its logical conclusion.  

 

PM-POLICE:

Later, addressing a ceremony in Lahore in connection with digitization of police stations, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed firm resolve to provide people an efficient and public-friendly police force to face modern day challenges.     

He said reforms are the key to better functioning of institutions and departments.  

Prime Minister appreciated the IT Initiatives and Police Reception Desks introduced in Punjab Police.  

 

ASIF

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan has always expressed its desire to establish peaceful ties with all its neighbours, including Afghanistan and India.

Addressing a function of District Bar Association in Sialkot, he said no one should construe our desire for peace as weakness.

The Minister said establishment of military courts has become demand of the day and is vital to cope with terrorism.

 

DAR

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar says the hard work by all stakeholders during the last four years has resulted in the economic turnaround which is globally acknowledged now.

He was speaking during a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Stock Exchange led by its Chairman Muneer Kamal in Islamabad on Saturday .

The Minister assured the delegation that the process of reforms will continue.

 

DAR-PRESIDENT

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar called on President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Saturday .

The Minister apprised the President about the economic situation in the country and said that all key economic indicators are positive and moving in the right direction.  

He said now the government is fully focused on measures aimed at sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

The Minister also shared with the President the recent developments with regard to legislation on military courts and the government's efforts to achieve consensus on the issue.

AHSAN:

Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said Pak-China industrial cooperation will make Pakistan a production hub in the region.

In a statement issued on Saturday , he said establishment of industrial zones will prove to be a milestone in creating numerous opportunities of investment and employment in the country. 

Ahsan Iqbal said promotion of industrial development is fourth important pillar of China Pakistan Economic Corridor project

 

BAJWA:

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has reiterated Pakistan Army's commitment to ensure security for China Pakistan Economic Corridor and the work force involved.

He was speaking during his visit to Headquarters of Special Security Division on Saturday .

Army Chief emphasized upon the value that Pakistan attaches to the Chinese help and assistance extended in making this project a success.

 

RABBANI

Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani says strong and stable federating units guarantee a strong federation.

Addressing a seminar on "Enhancement of powers of Senate for Stronger Federation" in Islamabad on Saturday , he said Senate is the representative of the federating units and safeguards their rights along with strengthening the federation.

Speaking on the occasion, Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafar-ul-Haq said the Senate of Pakistan is promoting positive trends of democracy in the country. 

 

PAK-BELARUS

Pakistan and Belarus have expressed the desire to enhance existing trade relations and cooperation in diverse sectors.

The sentiments were expressed at the 3rd session of Pakistan-Belarus Joint Business Council  meeting held in Karachi on Saturday .

In his welcome speech acting president of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Aamer Ata Bajwa said that Belarus is a gateway to the huge market of Russia and Central Asian States.

 

USAID:

The United States will provide a grant of eighty one million dollars for the construction of Kurram Tangi Dam in North Waziristan Agency.

According to official sources, an agreement for this purpose has already been signed between the US Agency for International Development and WAPDA.

The Kurram Tangi Dam on completion will produce eighty-three point four megawatts electricity.

 

OIL:

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the production of crude oil has reached to fifty thousand barrels per day.

Official sources told our Peshawar correspondent that oil is being produced from wells in Karak, Kohat and Hangu districts.

Meanwhile, the provincial government has signed a memorandum of understanding with a company from Hong Kong to further enhance production of oil.

AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan has appealed the United Nations to take notice of deteriorating human rights situation in Occupied Kashmir.

He was talking to the trainee officers of different countries in Muzaffarabad on Saturday .

Sardar Masood said international community should play its due role in resolution of long standing Kashmir dispute.

 

KASHMIR:

In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown, marked by forceful-anti-India demonstrations, was observed in Pulwama on the third consecutive day, on Saturday , against the killing of four civilians by Indian troops.

According to Kashmir Media Service, all shops and  commercial establishments remained closed in Pulwama town while public transport was off the roads.

Police fired teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators, triggering clashes between the protesters and the police personnel.

 

ERDOGAN-DUTCH

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has denounced the Dutch move of not allowing Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to land into their country.

Addressing a ceremony in Istanbul on Saturday , Tayyip Erdogan said a tit for tat reaction could come from Ankara.  

Turkish Foreign Minister was scheduled to address the Turkish community in the Dutch city of Rotterdam later on Saturday  to elicit support for next month's referendum on presidential powers. 

 

SYRIA-BLAST

In Syria, forty-four  people were killed and dozens  injured in two suicide bomb attacks in capital Damascus on Saturday .

According to agency reports, the attackers targeted buses transporting pilgrims to Bab al-Saghir cemetery in the old city.

Mainly dry weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next twelve hours.

However, rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at isolated places in  Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. A few hailstorms may occur during the period. Dry /gusty winds are likely in Sindh and Balochistan.
