UN chief may talk Kashmir with India, Pakistan

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is mulling the option of talking to senior officials from India and Pakistan on the situation in Kashmir and will see how things can be improved on the ground, his spokesperson has said. Haq made the remarks when he was asked at his daily press briefing about the situation in Kashmir and if Guterres has been able to understand the Kashmir dispute and would he be talking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to start a dialogue with Pakistan.

India is consolidating its military control in occupied Kashmir by grabbing more and more land for its military upkeep and infrastructure- Chairman Hurriyet Forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq

He was commenting on a news report published in a local newspaper that the puppet administration has allotted 480,000 kanals of land to Indian Army at Mandalthang and Shayok area of Ladakh for using as a firing range. In a statement in Srinagar Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said, “Consolidating military control in the disputed territory reflects India's occupational mindset. He said it wants to resolve a political dispute through military might. 

Valley Shuts Against Pulwama Killings

The Kashmir Valley on Friday observed a complete shutdown against killing of two civilians during a gunfight in Padgampora village of South Kashmir on Thursday. Two local militants and two civilians were killed in Padgampora village of Pulwama on Thursday. All shops and business establishments remained closed while as attendance in the government offices was thick due to non availability of transport across the Valley even as government had made extra-deployment of security forces across Valley.
