Amnesty International says the US-led military coalition in Iraq has violated international humanitarian law and may amount to war crimes in the battle for Mosul.

The Amnesty International in a report said today that Islamic State militant group also flagrantly violated the law by deliberately putting civilians in harm's way to shield their fighters and impede the advance of Iraqi and coalition forces.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Human Rights Chief Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein has also called for accountability and dialogue to heal the trauma of Mosul after Iraqi troops retook the country's second city from the Islamic State group.

In a statement, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein demanded that the offenders should be brought to justice. He also demanded that all violations should also be thoroughly probed.
