Durable peace only through settlement of Kashmir dispute: APHC
In Occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders have reiterated that settlement of the Kashmir dispute is essential for ensuring durable peace in South Asia.
The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while addressing a gathering in Srinagar welcomed the meeting between Pakistan Prime Minister, Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, and his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, at Urfa, Russia.
He, however, said that all bilateral talks between Pakistan and India would prove futile if there is no active participation of people of Jammu and Kashmir in the dialogue process.
The spokesman of Syed Ali Geelani’s forum, Ayaz Akbar, in a statement in Srinagar said the two countries should focus on the core issue of Kashmir.
The JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, in his statement said that the two countries could not prosper and progress without settling the Kashmir dispute. Hurriyat leaders, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi and Javaid Ahmed Mir, in theirs statements also welcomed the meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi.
