Govt announces Rs 30 million grant for Pakistani boxing champion Waseem
The government has approved the thirty million rupees grant announced by the Prime Minister for World Silver Flyweight Boxer Champion Muhammad Waseem. The grant will be utilized in training and tours of the boxer. The government has also assured to support the player with every possible facility.
Pakistan in danger to qualify for Cricket World Cup
International Cricket Council has expressed the apprehension that Pakistan is in serious danger of failing to qualify directly for the ICC World Cup 2019 in the United Kingdom. In a press release issued, ICC said Pakistan currently sits on eighth position in the ODI Team Rankings with 89 points two behind Bangladesh and two ahead of the West Indies. However Pakistan sets its sights on direct qualification for the World Cup 2019 when it takes on Australia in a five-ODI series starting in Brisbane on Friday.
Misbah clarifies comment regarding 1999’s Pakistan team
Pakistan Test captain Misbahul Haq explained his previous comment regarding the national side which toured Australia in 1999. After the loss in Sydney Test, the 42-year-old was asked if he considered the current side was the best team which toured Australia. In response, Misbah said that Pakistan’s 1999 team was the best one.
Jimmy Adams appointed new West Indies cricket director
West Indies turned to former batsman Jimmy Adams to help rebuild the side as he was named their new director of cricket on Tuesday after signing a three-year deal. Adams played 54 Test matches for the Caribbean side and will be able to draw upon a wealth of experience as he turns his focus to overseeing the development of West Indies cricket at all levels. The 49-year-old returned to Jamaica after ending a five-year spell as head coach of English country side Kent last October.
