Info Minister reiterates Govt's commitment to freedom of expression

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has concluded an amicable settlement to the issue of Government rates of advertisements for broadcast media. 

The new slabs agreed with Pakistan Broadcasters Association are estimated to result in savings of seventy percent to the Government.

 Secretary Information and Broadcasting Shafqat Jalil held negotiations with PBA in Karachi today.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain hoped that this would benefit the media industry and is in line with the policy of the present government to strengthen media. 

He reiterated the commitment of the present government to the freedom of media and expression.

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has said that modern education and professional training will be ensured in the field of media.

He made these remarks while chairing a meeting regarding establishment of Media University, in Islamabad.

The Information Minister said new trends of news and programing including TV and radio production will be introduced.

He said the academies of Radio Pakistan and PTV will be merged to set up the University.
