Furloughed federal workers protest at White House on shutdown Day 20
January 11, 2019

In the United States, hundreds of furloughed federal employees marched on the White House in Washington, demanding their salaries, on the 20th day of a partial government shutdown.

Some 800,000 federal government employees have been ordered to stay home or work without pay during the shutdown brought on by a standoff between President Trump and his opposition party in Congress over his demand for 5.7 billion dollars to build a wall on the southern U.S. border with Mexico.

On the other hand, President Trump has said he has the right to declare a national emergency if no deal with Congress can be reached on funding the border wall project.
