No threat to democracy from any quarter: Rashid
Information Minister says holding protest and rallies is democratic right but this should not be used for abusing democracy.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid has emphatically stated that there is no threat to democracy from any quarter.
Talking to the media in Lahore on Saturday, he said holding protest and rallies is the democratic right of every political party but this should not be used for abusing but strengthening of democracy.
The Minister said those nurtured under the dictatorial rule consider democracy as a threat to their survival.
Referring to the dialogue process with Taliban, the Information Minister said the government wants to resolve the issue through dialogue without any bloodshed. But it will give a befitting response to any violent act from the other party.
About the government's fiscal measures, Pervaiz Rashid said these have led to appreciation of rupee against dollar. Besides several projects have been launched in the power sector to overcome electricity shortage.
