Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly was informed that the power demand in Gilgit-Baltistan is 225 megawatt while during winter only 87 megawatt electricity is being generated.

The 34th formal session of Legislative Assembly commenced in Gilgit today (Monday) with Deputy Speaker Jamil Ahmed in the chair.

Replying to a question during question hour‚ Minister for Water and Power Didar Ali said some hydro power houses are near completion stage at different districts which will help to minimize load shedding by the end of this year.

Responding to a question‚ Senior Minister Muhammad Jaffer said ZA Bhutto had given subsidy on transportation of wheat to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

He said some elements are misguiding people and saying that subsidy on wheat price has been withdrawn. He informed the house that Gilgit-Baltistan cabinet has fixed 14 rupees per kilogram wheat price.

Later‚ the Speaker adjourned the proceeding till tomorrow at 10 am.
