SCO Summit 2017 Astana- SCO holds a great importance for Pakistan and the region- PM
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif arrives Pakistan after completing official visit to Astana-
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived Pakistan, after concluding his two-day official visit to Kazakhstan. During his stay in Astana, the Prime Minister participated in 17th meeting of the Heads of State Council of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the Pakistani stall at Expo-2017 in Astana. Pakistan has formally become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization during 17th meeting of the Heads of the State Council summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Friday. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in his inaugural speech during the 17th SCO summit welcomed Pakistan as full member of the organization. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif along with his delegation attended the meeting of the Heads of State Council of SCO. Pakistan has been an Observer with SCO since 2005 and applied for full membership of the organization in 2010. The decision, in principle, to give membership to Pakistan was taken by the SCO Heads of States meeting held in Ufa, Russia, in 2015. The Heads of State Council is the highest decision-making body of SCO which meets annually. Pakistan fully subscribes to the Charter of SCO and the Shanghai Spirit.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa says while interacting with the troops during his visit to LOC in Muzaffarabad sector where he was given a detailed by the local Commander regarding operational situation, Indian ceasefire violations and response by Pakistani troops. The Army Chief appreciated the operational readiness of troops and their exemplary high morale and motivation for fulfillment of assigned mission. General Bajwa also hailed Kashmiris on both sides of the LOC for their determination against Indian brutalities and reiterated that Pakistan shall continue its support for right of self determination to Kashmiri brothers in occupied Kashmir. The Army Chief was also briefed about the ongoing communication infrastructure development by FWO. He appreciated the work saying that Army shall continue to play its role in nation building projects.

Pakistan`s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi at the concluding ceremony of Ocean conference in New York says we remain committed to working closely with the international community to improve the health of our oceans. The world needs to come together to make a collective commitment to reverse this. She called for effective implementation of the Paris Agreement as climate change was truly a global problem. Pakistan is undertaking a number of steps to strengthen the country's national capacity to undertake Marine Scientific Research to increasing oceanographic knowledge.

President Donald Trump says at a joint news conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, the United States is committed to the mutual defense of NATO members, casting aside concerns that his failure to mention the commitment last month weakened the alliance. Trump says he was "committing the United States to Article 5." That article in the NATO treaty says an attack on one member is an attack on all members and binds the allies to come to that country's defense.

Judiciary official says Iranian authorities have arrested seven people suspected of helping militants involved in this week's attacks in the capital Tehran Islamic State claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings and gun attacks on parliament and the mausoleum of the Islamic Republic's founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini that killed 17 people on Wednesday. On Friday, authorities announced the arrests of 41 suspects in connection with the twin Tehran attacks.
Topic: Trump berates Qatar as Gulf stand-off escalates
US President Donald Trump accused Qatar's leadership of bankrolling extremists and demanded a halt to that funding, as a diplomatic stand-off between the Gulf emirate and its neighbors escalated. Trump says that The nation of Qatar, unfortunately, has historically been a funder of terrorism at a very high level. Trump's stern warning overshadowed an earlier declaration from Secretary of State Rex Tillerson who had also urged Saudi Arabia and its allies to ease their land and sea "blockade" of Qatar.
