Pakistan will be able to play proactive role in SCO region after getting its full membership- Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned home after completing official visit to Astana- SCO membership to help advance Govt's policy of peaceful neighborhood: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif returned Islamabad today, after concluding his two-day official visit to Kazakhstan.  During his stay in Astana, the Prime Minister participated in 17th meeting of the Heads of State Council of Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited the Pakistani stall at Expo-2017 in Astana. Pakistan has formally become a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization during 17th meeting of the Heads of the State Council summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in his inaugural speech during the 17th SCO summit welcomed Pakistan as full member of the organization.

Pakistan remains committed to peace and stability in Afghanistan: PM

Talking to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Astan, he said that terrorism remains a common threat to both Pakistan and Afghanistan. He said Pakistan and its forces are valiantly fighting the menace of terrorism and Pakistan has rendered immense human and economic sacrifices in the struggle in the recent years. Nawaz Sharif said close cooperation between Pakistan and Afghanistan is important for eliminating the scourge of terrorism from our region.

Pakistan important partner of Russia in south Asia: Putin 

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Astana on Friday. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Pakistan is an important partner for Russia in South Asia. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, including trade and economic cooperation, and also current international issues during the meeting. 

Unprovoked firing by Indian army across the LoC- One civilian martyred

In Azad Kashmir, one civilian was martyred due to unprovoked Indian army firing from across the Line of Control in Rawalakot Sector today. According to ISPR, Pakistani troops befittingly responded and silenced the Indian guns.

Pakistan is capable to defeat all threats 'irrespective of the front': COAS

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said Pakistan is capable to defeat all threats irrespective of the front. He was interacting with the troops during his visit to LOC in Muzaffarabad sector where he was given a detailed briefing by the local Commander regarding operational situation, Indian ceasefire violations and response by Pakistani troops.
