KP opposition parties observed strike against alleged rigging
The opposition alliance has turned down a request of the government to call of the strike
Strike was observed throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday on the call of three-party alliance protest against the reported rigging in the local government elections.
The three-party alliance comprises Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F).
Earlier, the tri-party opposition alliance has turned down the request of provincial government for calling off the proposed strike call against the alleged polls rigging.
Talks between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government constituted ministerial committee and the opposition parties alliance ended without any consensus in Peshawar.
Both the committees held talks over the rigging allegations during the Local Bodies' elections and ways to resolve the issue.
However, the opposition parties refused to call back its strike schedule for Wednesday.
