United States, India and Japan today started the largest naval exercise off the Indian coast on Monday. 

The US Pacific command in a statement said the annual drill named Malabar is the latest in a continuing series of exercises to address variety of shared threats to maritime security in the Indo-Asia Pacific.

The drills involve the US aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, India's lone carrier Vikramaditya and Japan's biggest warship Izumo.
