Sartaj Aziz calls for boosting Pak-UK trade ties
British High Commissioner to Pakistan meets Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs.
British High Commissioner designate to Pakistan Philip Barton called on Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad on Monday.
The Adviser highlighted the priorities of the present Government for improving the economy and emphasized the need for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and the United Kingdom by exchanging business delegations.
He appreciated the invaluable financial support extended by UK to Pakistan in the education and health sectors. He also thanked the UK for its support in the European Union for Pakistan for granting GSP Plus status to Pakistan‚ which would lead to increase in Pakistan's exports to the EU.
Sartaj Aziz also briefed the High Commissioner on the Government's desire to improve relations with all neighboring countries‚ including India and Afghanistan.
The British High Commissioner said his country highly values its ties with Pakistan and looks forward for enhancing Pakistan-UK bilateral cooperation with special emphasis on increasing bilateral trade during his tenure.
