Foreign investment in Pakistan will boost economy: PM
Nawaz Sharif says the government has undertaken mega projects on priority basis to put the economy on right track.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said foreign investment in Pakistan would provide boost to its economy and generate employment opportunities.
He said this while attending a presentation on mega infrastructure development projects‚ including Gwadar Port‚ Railways and energy generation‚ in Islamabad on Monday.
The Prime Minister said the government has undertaken mega projects on priority basis to put the economy on right track. He issued directions that timeline should be developed for these projects.
Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan has strong strategic relationship with China and it welcomes new and innovative ideas in all fields. He said Pakistan has always welcomed Chinese investment‚ which has been a source of further strengthening ties between the two countries. He directed that investors should be provided all possible assistance. He said investment in ports‚ railways and energy sector will not only provide necessary impetus to the economy but also generate employment opportunities.
Earlier‚ the Prime Minister was briefed on these projects. He was told that various Chinese companies have invested in these sectors of economy‚ while others have shown interest.
The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif‚ Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal‚ Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif‚ Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi and other senior government officials.
