Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif says the government is focusing on indigenous resources to generate cheap electricity.

Talking to media after inaugurating WAPDA office for Dasu Power Project in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said under the plan electricity will be generated from coal in southern parts of the country and from hydel sources in the northern region.

He said finances are partially available for Dasu power project and work will be started on it very soon.

He said under the Tarbela-IV project, an additional 1400 megawatt electricity will be produced by 2017. He said work is also underway on Tarbela-V project.
