Three Pakistani female powerlifters, Saniha Ghafoor, Twinkle Sohail and Sybil Sohail, clean sweeped their respective categories during the Oceania Pacific Powerlifting Championship in Singapore.

Sybil won four gold medals in the 47kilogramme category whereas Saniha and Twinkle had won four gold medals each in 57kg category and 72kg category.

Saniha lifted an aggregate weight of 280kg; 115kg during squat, 55kg during bench press, 110kg during deadlift.

The event is being held in Park Avenue Convention Centre in Singapore.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has felicitated Pakistani female power lifters Saniha Ghafoor and Twinkle Sohail on securing four gold medals each during the Oceania Pacific Powerlifting Championship being held in Singapore.

In his message, he said that Saniha Ghafoor and Twinkle Sohail have brightened the name of country by winning the gold medals.

He said that getting the gold medals in the world competition of power lifting was impossible without hard work.

The Chief Minister said that talented daughters like Saniha Ghafoor and Twinkle Sohail are pride of the nation.

He said that, by winning the gold medals, the power lifters have proved that women are also making their place in the field of sports.
