The Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian National Army have launched the land operation into the east of the Euphrates river to secure its borders by eliminating terror elements and to ensure the safe return of Syrian refugees and Syria's territorial integrity.
Defense Ministry of Turkey said Turkish airstrikes hit 181 terror targets and eight people killed as part of Operation Peace Spring in northern Syria.
Meanwhile, Turkey told the United Nations Security Council in a letter that its military operation would be proportionate, measured and responsible.
The UN Security Council will meet behind closed doors today to address the Turkish military operation against Kurdish fighters in northeast Syria.
The discussion by the 15-member Security Council was requested by five European members Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and Poland.
