National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa screened Lollywood’s classic Urdu feature film “Susral” of 1962 under its Mandwa Film Club today.
The film was based on the novel Hazar Dastan by Riaz Shahid.
As part of the most contemporary films from that era, Susral is a social drama starring Allaudin, Laila, Lehri among others.
The film is most remembered for its poetry by Tanvir Naqvi, Munir Niazi and music composition by Hassan Latif.
Songs feature voices of Noor Jehan, Irene Parveen, Mehdi Hassan, Ahmed Rushdi and Asif Khan while popular songs of the film include Ja Apni Hasraton Ke.
The Mandwa film club of Lok Virsa is an initiative to revive the classical cinema in the twin cities and involve the fun lovers in healthy activities.
The film club screens national and international classical hits on every weekend and invite audience from all walks of life to entertain them as well as engage them in cultural programs.
