FO MAYANMAR

Ambassador of Myanmar was summoned at Foreign Office in Islamabad today and conveyed a strong protest of the Government and people of Pakistan at the ongoing violence against Rohingya Muslims. 

.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua stressed for effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such violence, providing security to Rohingya Muslims and upholding their rights to live and move without fear and discriminations.

 

She asked Myanmar government for urgent investigations into the recent violence against Rohingya Muslims and holding accountable those involved in these serious crimes.

 

     

Tehmina Janjua also emphasized the swift implementation of the recommendations of the Kofi Annan Commission for the durable settlement of the problem.

 

 

Ambassador U. Win Myint assured the Foreign Secretary to convey the concerns of the Government and people of Pakistan to the Myanmar Government.

 

                          

 

PRESIDENT VISIT

President Mamnoon Hussain arrived in Astana today on a four-day official visit to attend the first summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on science and technology.

 

On his arrival at Astana Nazarbayev International Airport, the president and First Lady Begum Mehmooda Mamnoon Hussain were warmly received by Kazakh Minister for Defence and Aero Space Industry Beibit Atamkulov.

 

The heads of state and government from around twenty-two Muslim states and delegates from around fifty-seven states will attend the summit. The president is one of the eight Islamic world leaders to deliver their statements at the inaugural session of the summit.

 

                       

 

OIC-SUMMIT

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is organizing its two-day first summit on science and technology at the level of head of states and government in Astana, Kazakhstan from tomorrow.

 

The summit will evolve a unified position at the highest levels of decision-making in Member States with a view to advancing the different fields of science, technology and innovation.

 

The Summit is important as it underscores the Member States' support for scientific fields by demonstrating the Muslim world's knowledge contributions away from the negative stereotypes that have become widespread recently.

 

The Summit is also of significance considering that Muslims constitute a quarter of the world population and their countries possess abundant natural resources. 

 

                           

 

KHAQAN

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visited Mushaf Airbase Sargodha today.

 

He was briefed about operational preparedness of Pakistan Air Force and its various other contributions, especially in the area of disaster management, relief operations, education and health.

 

The Prime Minister appreciated the critical role Air Force has been playing towards guarding aerial frontiers of the country and fighting the menace of terrorism.

 

                         

 

 

AHSAN

Interior Minister says the government is taking bold measures to provided higher education for all.

 

He was addressing a ceremony of Gujarat University Campus in Narowal this afternoon.

 

He said that the quality education is the fundamental right of every youth of the country and the government is responsible to provide them education at their doorstep.

 

The Minister announced to establish an independent University for Narowal.  He said the Narowal Medical College will start its service in education next year.

                    

He said that government has provided a conducive atmosphere for higher education.

                 

              

 

OPERATIONS

The security forces conducted search operations in Autto Khel area of Mohmand Agency and Wari Tehsil of Upper Dir, recovering a huge quantity of arms and ammunition.

         

According to ISPR, these include heavy machine guns, motors, rocket launchers, grenades, explosives and communication equipment.

 

    

 

KHWAJA-CHINA

China has appreciated Pakistan's contribution for the international counter-terror cause.

 

The appreciation was expressed by Political Bureau Member of Communist Party of China Central Committee Meng Jianzhu during a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Zhongnanhai Ziguangge.

 

Meng Jianzhu said Pakistan and China should deepen anti-terror cooperation. 

 

The Foreign Minister said Pakistan is willing to keep close cooperation with China in combating terrorism.

 

                      

 

FO-CONDOLENCE

Pakistan has offered condolences over loss of life and damage caused by earthquake in Mexico.

 

In a statement today the Foreign Office Spokesperson said that the Government and people of Pakistan express their deepest sympathies over the loss of precious lives due to the powerful earthquake registered at the southern coast of Mexico.

 

He said that we stand with the people of Mexico in their hour of grief and pray for speedy recovery of the injured.

 

                           

 

KASHMIR

In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities have detained senior resistance leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to prevent the march of the joint resistance leadership (JRL) to the headquarters of India’s National Investigation Agency in Delhi.

 

The leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had announced to court arrest at the NIA headquarters in protest against its cruel policies regarding the people of Kashmir.

 

Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred one Kashmiri youth in Sopore, today.

 

The troops killed the youth during a violent siege and search operation in Reban area of Sopore.

 

                     

 

SYRIA

US-backed fighters launched a new offensive today to oust the Daesh' militants from eastern Deir Ezzor province.

                  

According to reports, the forces had also begun fighting to push Daesh' group out of remaining territory in Hasakeh province.

                      

Russia-backed Syrian regime forces are also waging a separate offensive to oust Daesh' from Deir Ezzor city.

 

                         

                               

               

HURRICANE

Hurricane Irma has weakened slightly today as it battered Cuba’s northern coast while millions residents were told to evacuate in Florida. 

 

According to U.S. National Hurricane Center, Irma moved along the Camaguey Archipelago with 155 mph (250 kph) winds early today.

 

                       

 

SCHEDULE

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the schedule of Pakistan-Sri Lanka series to be played in Unites Arab Emirates during September-October this year. 

 

PCB spokesman said in Lahore today, the series includes two test, five one day international and three T20 matches.

 

He said that the first test match will be played at Abu Dhabi from 28th of this month while the second at Dubai from 6th of the next month.

 

He said that five ODI matches will be played on 13th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 23rd of October.

 

The Spokesman said that the first two T20 matches will be played at Abu Dhabi on 26th and 27th while third T20 match to be played at Lahore on 29th of October subject to security clearance.

 

                           

 

WEIGHTLIFTING

Pakistani wrestler Nooh Datagir Butt won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Youth Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championships at Gold Coast City, Australia.

   

According to Honorary Secretary, Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Amjid Amin Butt,  Nooh (+105kg) also clinched a silver medal in the championship.

 

He said till now Pakistan has won four medals in the championship.

 

            

 

WEATHER

 

 

Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in most parts of the country during the next twenty four hours.

 

However, rain-thunderstorm is expected at scattered places in Peshawar, Hazara, Kohat, Sargodha, Malakand, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Kashmir, while at isolated places in  Gujranwala, Lahore divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.
