Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi visited Mushaf Airbase Sargodha today.

He was briefed about operational preparedness of Pakistan Air Force and its various other contributions, especially in the area of disaster management, relief operations, education and health.

The Prime Minister appreciated the critical role Air Force has been playing towards guarding aerial frontiers of the country and fighting the menace of terrorism.

EXERCISE

Pakistan Air Force has dispatched JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and early warning aircraft to join Pak-China air forces joint ongoing training exercise 'Shaheen VI.' 

According to the spokesman for People's Liberation Army Air Force Shen Jinke, Chinese J-11 fighters, JH-7 fighter-bombers, KJ-200 AWACS aircraft and ground forces are taking part in the exercise.

The air forces of China and Pakistan began joint training exercises in China on Thursday, which will continue till 27th of this month.

The "Shaheen" joint training was launched by the Chinese and Pakistani air forces in March 2011.

SHAHBAZ

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif says electricity load shedding has largely been overcome as a result of the projects implemented by the present government.

Talking to newsmen in London today, he regretted that the previous governments did not pay attention to this critical issue.

The Chief Minister said all segments of the society need to contribute for changing destiny of the nation.

According to official sources, the special focus on research at these universities will help ehance competencies of the prevailing and emerging disciplines of specialized studies to spur rapid development in the country.

DENGUE

Three hundred and forty fresh cases of dengue fever have been reported in different localities of Peshawar.

According to the latest report of Dengue Response Unit Peshawar, one hundred and sixty eight of them have been admitted in hospitals for treatment while the remaining discharged after giving them initial treatment.

At present, there are four hundred and seventy two patients being treated in hospitals.

KASHMIR

In occupied Kashmir, puppet authorities have detained senior resistance leaders to prevent March to the headquarters of India’s National Investigation Agency in Delhi. 

The joint resistance leaders comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik had announced to court arrest at NIA headquarters in protest against its cruel policies regarding the people of Kashmir.

Indian police arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik around midnight, yesterday, from his residence in Srinagar and shifted him to some unknown destination while Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were already under house detention.

The puppet authorities have imposed restrictions in the jurisdiction of Nowhatta, Mahraj Gunj, Safa Kadal, Khanyar, Maisuma and Rainawari police stations in Srinagar to stop people from holding anti-India demonstrations.

Meanwhile, massive protests erupted after Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in Reban area of Sopore, today.

People from adjacent villages of Hadipora and Chetlora tried to march towards Reban. Indian police and troops used brute force to disperse the protesters, triggering clashes between the demonstrators and the forces’ personnel.

US-KOREA

United States says it intends to call a meeting on Monday to vote on a draft resolution establishing additional sanctions on North Korea for its missile and nuclear program.

In a statement, U.S. Mission to United Nations said that  United States wants Security Council to impose an oil embargo on North Korea, ban its exports of textiles and the hiring of North Korean laborers abroad, and to subject leader Kim Jong Un to an asset freeze and travel ban.

A Security Council resolution needs nine votes in favor and no vetoes by permanent members Britain, the United States, France, Russia or China to pass.

In the Common-wealth Weight Lifting championship, Junior catagory at Gold Coast, Australia Pakistan's athlete Nooh Dastagir Butt has won a gold medal by lifting 389 KG weight.

He has brought success and pride to the nation by setting a world record in this category.
