Independence Cup: Pakistan training camp underway at Gaddafi stadium
Five day training camp of Pakistan cricket team is underway at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore ahead of the Independence Cup against World Eleven. The three Match t-20 series between World Eleven and Pakistan Team will be played at the same Stadium on September 12, 13 and 15.

Sri Lanka’s 28-year-old all-rounder Thisara Perera considers himself to be lucky to be picked for the World XI tour to Pakistan which is scheduled to commence next week with matches in Lahore. Enaam Ahmed, the 17-year-old British racing sensation of Pakistani origin, won the British F3 Championship here recently to stun his rivals. Young Enaam picked up 12 wins in the season to equal the great Ayrton Senna’s feat, literally blowing the opposition away. He is now eyeing bigger things by the end of this season, such as surpassing Jan Magnussen’s record of 14 wins from the 1994 British F3 season. Enaam was fifth in the championship in 2016 and, after winning the Autumn Trophy towards the end of last year, was one of the pre-season favourites to lift the 2017 title.

Pakistani wrestler Nooh Datagir Butt won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Youth Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championships at Gold Coast City, Australia. According to Honorary Secretary, Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, Amjid Amin Butt , Nooh (+105kg) also clinched a silver medal in the championship. He said till now Pakistan has won four medals in the championship.

Brazilian Andrew Parsons will lead the International Paralympic Committee after winning the Election held in Abu Dhabi. Parsons won the right to lead the IPC after receiving 84 votes out of 162 which led him to win the Election in the first round with just over 51 percent of the vote. Parsons is replacing Englishman Philip craven who had led the International Paralympic Committee Since 2001. Bob Steadward, the first President of the IPC, conducted the vote and concluded that it was "short and sweet" after it ended after the first round.

Sander Armee of Belgium won the 18th stage of Vuelta of Spain Cycle Race while Briton Chris Froome retains the overall lead. Sander Armee covered the 169 kilometer distance in four hours nine minutes and 39 seconds. Alexey Lutsenko of Kazakhstan finished second while Giovanni Visconti of Italy remained third. Chris Froome is now leading the overall lead with the total time of 72 hours three minutes and 50 seconds. Vincenzo Nibali of Italy is second one minute and 37 seconds behind Froome. Wilco Kelderman of Netherlands take the third spot.

Jean-Julien Rojer of Netherlands and Romania's Horia Tecau won the US Open Tennis men's doubles crown and captured their second Grand Slam title. The 12th-seeded duo defeated Spanish 11th seeds Feliciano Lopez and Marc Lopez by 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile, Kevin Anderson of South Africa reached final of the US Open men's single after beating Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain by 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 in New York. The 31-year-old Kevin Anderson will face winner of other semi final to be played between world number one Rafael Nadal of Spain and 24th seed Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina. Final of the tournament will be played on Sunday.
