Pakistan launches Sustainable Development Goals
Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal says programme to improve living standard of people.
The government today launched Sustainable Development Goals recently adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.
A ceremony to this effect was held in Islamabad on Friday.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal expressed the government's commitment to achieve sustainable development goals to improve the living standard of people and development of the country.
He said the themes of sustainable development goals have already been incorporated in Vision 2025 development agenda.
He said partnerships will be developed with the private sector, civil society, academia and development partners to move forward on the development agenda.
He said our commitment to the goals is not tied to any foreign assistance as Pakistan takes these development goals as the national agenda. He said the provinces are setting up special units to make progress on the development goals.
