President Mamnoon Hussain has lauded the media's significant role in promoting national unity and harmony.

He was talking to Prime Minister's Special Assistant Irfan Siddiqui in Islamabad on Friday when presented new code of conduct for electronic media on him.

The President said media works as front-line contingent against terrorism, extremism and sectarianism. He said no compromise will be made on national interest, Islamic values and culture.

He expressed the hope that media will willingly act upon the new code of conduct.

The President appreciated role of the Committee which devised the new code of conduct for media. He also appreciated the cooperation of Pakistan Broadcasters Association.

President Mamnoon Hussain has called for creating awareness against blood borne diseases.

Inaugurating annual ceremony of annual conference of the Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine in Islamabad today, he said the present government is giving unprecedented importance blood safety and has taken concrete steps in this regard.

He said the first phase of Safe Blood Transfusion Program has been completed successfully with the German cooperation. In this phase, ten modern regional blood transfusion centers have been set up. Sixty existing hospital based blood banks. He said the second phase will ensure establishment of  transfusion system of world standard in the country.

Minister of State for Petroleum Jaam Kamal in his remarks, said legislation is being done to ensure provision of quality health care services to the masses.
