Responding to a question in Senate, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed informed on Friday that twenty six million unverified mobile phone SIMs have been blocked during the verification process.

Answering a question, he said the government has taken a number of steps to improve performance of Pakistan International Airlines.

The government has injected sixteen billion rupees as cash support and fifty two million dollars for acquiring fifteen aircraft on dry lease.

He pointed out that loss making routes both international and domestic have been suspended and aircrafts are deployed on profitable routes.

Senator Talha Mahmood told the House that the issue between PIA administration and PALPA has been resolved with the intervention of Senate Standing Committee on the Cabinet and PIA flights are now being operated normally.

Responding to a call attention notice, Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani said allotment letter of plots in Bhara Kahu Housing scheme will be issued to the employees of constitutional bodies after verification from their concerned departments.

Responding to a call attention notice of Chaudhry Tanvir Khan in Senate on Friday, Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid informed that PEMRA is playing its due role under the existing law and rules and regulations.

The Minister said PEMRA is issuing notices and advices to the violators of its rules and regulations.

 He said complaints should also be referred to the Pakistan Council of Complaints.
