UN rights chief seeks international inquiry into Congo massacres
The United Nations has called for an international investigation into massacres and other crimes committed in Congo claiming hundreds of lives.
The demand was made by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein while addressing a meeting of Human Rights Council in Geneva.
The UN high commissioner also offered technical assistance to Congo government for holding transparent investigation into violence and mass killings in Congo.
Hundreds of people were killed and nearly 1.3 million persons went missing in central Congo since last August during fighting between a militia and government forces.
