Addressing the Heads of State Council of the SCO at Astana in Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says instead of talking about containment, we should create shared spaces for all. He urged SCO member states to leave behind the legacy of peace and amity and not the toxic harvest of conflict and animosity. The Prime Minister welcomed the proposal of the Chinese President Xi Jinping on the need of a long term treaty of good neighborliness for the next five years.

Pakistan has informed the United Nations that India continues to interfere in its internal affairs by carrying out subversive activities in Balochistan. Country Director of UNHCR calls on National Security Advisor in Islamabad. Indrika Ratwate discussed matters pertaining to management, regulation and repatriation of Afghan Refugees in Pakistan. Speaking on this occasion, Nasser Khan Janjua said that Pakistan has always stood with Afghanistan and its people and has wholeheartedly shared its bread with Afghan brethren. CDWP approves 7 development projects of over Rs.61.9b
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal chaired a meeting of Central Development Working Party in Islamabad. The meeting recommended two mega projects of worth 43.5 billion to ECNEC in transport and communication sectors. It recommended Executive Committee of National Economic Council to consider approval of four mega projects in transport communication, water resources and tourism sector.
UK elections: Conservatives lose majority
In United Kingdom, conservative party has emerged as single largest party in the general election. According to reports, Conservative party secured 318 seats, Labor party won 261 seats and the Scottish National party won 35 seats so far. For the first time 950 women took part in the elections. From Bolton Pakistani candidate of Labor party Yasmin Qureshi emerged successful.
Russia, Iran underline need to resolve Qatar, Syrian disputes through talks
Russia and Iran have underlined the need to resolve the Qatar and Syrian disputes through meaningful dialogue. The demand was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif, who met in Astana today on the sidelines of the SCO summit. The two leaders also discussed bilateral cooperation and regional security situation.
