Both countries inked the Joint Declaration aimed at enhancing regional connectivity between the two countries and the region at large. They emphasized close collaboration between Pakistan and Tajikistan both at the government and people level, besides giving a further boost to their bilateral relations. The two leaders also witnessed inking of Memorandum of Understanding on trade cooperation.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed satisfaction that some of the world's leading manufacturers have expressed their keen interest to provide Converter Stations for CASA-1000. Tenders for transmission lines from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan and from Tajikistan to Afghanistan have been floated and are currently being evaluated. Nawaz Sharif described CASA-1000 as a flagship project in the region connecting Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia to Afghanistan and Pakistan in South Asia through an electricity grid. On its completion, Pakistan will get 1,000 MW and Afghanistan 300 MW electricity in summer time, from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The forum said no other country in the world has done as much for global safety and security as Pakistan at a huge cost of both men and material. Pakistan acts as a frontline state in global counterterrorism efforts with unparalleled sacrifices and successes. The sacrifices of security forces, law enforcement agencies and the national resolve in fighting the scourge of terrorism are acknowledged and appreciated. Pakistan will continue to work for peace and progress in Afghanistan through an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that if Joint Investigation Team does not record statement of the Qatari Prince, it would be unilateral and would not be accepted. Addressing a joint news conference in Islamabad, along with other federal ministers, he said audio video recording of JIT's proccedings should be made public. People of Pakistan are the biggest JIT and they should be apprised about the questions asked by the JIT and witnesses' response to those queries.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has invited Chinese companies to expand and diversify investment in power sector by participating in the process of setting up transmission lines and local coal generation projects. On bilateral relations, the Prime Minister stated that the exemplary relations between Pakistan and China are based on mutual respect and trust and that Pakistan wishes to explore all existing opportunities to further cement these relations.

Government fully committed to overcoming energy shortage- First unit of Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant becomes operational in a record period of 21 months (July 7, 2017)

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurates first unit of Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Plant with a capacity of 760 megawatts in Jhang on Friday. The project is a Combined Cycle Power Plant with a total production capacity of 1230 MW, fueled by Liquefied Natural Gas.

It was attended, among others, by Leader of the House in the Senate Raja Zafarul Haq, members of the Federal Cabinet, PCB officials and senior officers. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has asked Pakistan Cricket Board not to beg for any foreign team to come to Pakistan to play cricket with us. He said players are the real heroes and leaders of the country.
