NAWAZ
Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is leading a big peaceful rally on his way to Lahore.

Thousands of PML-N workers, political leaders of his party, and members of the federal cabinet are accompanying the former prime minister.

The rally is now passing through Rawalpindi's main artery, the Murree Road. Nawaz Sharif will address the workers at committee chowk Rawalpindi.

Strict security measures have been taken for the security of the participants of the rally.

A long queue of vehicles along with Nawaz Sharif's fans is moving at a snail's pace. The rally consumed over seven hours to reach Murree Road due to mammoth gathering of PML-N workers, which showed their love for Nawaz Sharif.

Workers are raising full throated slogans in support of the former prime minister and they have also established reception camps in Rawalpindi and along the Grand Trunk Road all the way from Islamabad' Punjab House to Data Darbar in Lahore.

 

PM-ENERGY
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says ensuring energy security is government's highest priority

Chairing a meeting on the issue pertaining to energy sector in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister said provision of clean and affordable power to consumers is key to development.

The Prime Minister directed Finance and Power Ministries to jointly work out revalidation of individual factors contributing to the circular debt, focus on improving efficiencies and out-of-the-box solutions for resolving the issue.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi instructed to plan for conversion of agricultural tube-wells to solar power in view of sustainable power supply and reducing the burden of subsidy.

He said this process will be started from Balochistan.

 

PM-WATER
Talking to Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah in Islamabad today, the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi directed to undertake proactive measures for increasing water storage capacity of the country.

He called for planning new water reservoirs and implementing on-going projects on fast track.

The Prime Minister stated that water security is of prime concern for the government in view of impacts of climate change on Pakistan.

 

PRESIDENT
President Mamnoon Hussain has said that projects under China Pakistan Economic Corridor and Gwadar Deepsea Port have created new opportunities for speedy progress in Balochistan.

Speaking at the 14th Convocation of Balochistan University in Quetta today, the president said the people of the province should take full advantages from these opportunities.

The President urged the students to focus on getting education and play role in progress and prosperity of the country.

Mamnoon Hussain said as compared to the past, the overall situation in Balochistan is returning to normalcy.

 

AHSAN
Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said no country can make progress without political stability, peace, and continuity in policies.

Talking to a delegation of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries in Islamabad today, he said the government wants to continue its journey to peace and development in collaboration with the private sector.

The Minister said our priorities include facilitating the private sector and strengthening country's economy.

Ahsan Iqbal said restoration of peace and implementation of law at all levels is one of his top priorities.

 

ISPR
Four security personnel, including a Major were martyred while foiling a devastating terrorist activity at Sherotkai, Timergara in Dir today.

According to ISPR, Major Ali Salman along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist hideout in the area in the wee hours.

As raid was being conducted, the terrorists opened fire. One of two terrorists present in hideout exploded himself while the other was killed in exchange of fire. One terrorist was apprehended alive during the operation.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Prime Minsiter Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed deep grief over martyrdom of four army personnel including Major Ali Salman.

The Prime Minister said our valiant forces have inflicted huge damage upon terrorist elements, but at the same time they have rendered huge sacrifices.

 

COAS
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has reiterated Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the defence of Harmain Sharifain and safeguarding the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

He was talking to Saudi Deputy Defence Minister Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al-Aysh, who called on him in Rawalpindi today.

General Bajwa assured the dignitary about the great importance Pakistan attaches to its strategic relationship with the Kingdom and reiterated that Islamabad holds its defence ties with Riyadh in highest esteem.

Saudi Deputy Defence Minister expressed KSA's deep appreciation for Pakistan's efforts, successes and sacrifices in war against terrorism and violent extremism.

 

PAF
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad today.

He briefed the Minister about ongoing and future development projects of Pakistan Air Force and other related financial matters.

The Finance Minister assured the Air Chief that fulfilling defence requirements is the top priority of the PML-N Government.

He said the government acknowledges the services rendered by the Air Force for the country and continue to make sure that all their financial requirements are catered for.

 

DAR
Afghan Ambassador Omar Zakhilwal had a meeting with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad today.

He proposed holding of meeting of Pak-Afghan Joint Economic Commission.

The Finance Minister said date of the meeting would be fixed through mutual consultations.

 

KASHMIR
In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops martyred three more Kashmiri youth in Tral area of Pulwama district, today.

People took to the streets in the area and staged protest demonstrations against the operation. Indian troops fired bullets and pellets to disperse the protesters.

Meanwhile, an Indian court has sent the APHC Secretary General, Shabbir Ahmad Shah to New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail on judicial custody for 14 Days.

 

AFGHANISTAN
In Afghanistan, Taliban have released the two hundred thirty five villagers held hostage by them after capturing a village in province of Sar-e Pol.

Meanwhile, one person was killed in a suicide attack at a security check post in Kabul.

 

US-KOREA
North Korea says it is considering plans for missile strikes on the US Pacific territory of Guam.

North Korean official military statement came after President Donald Trump told the North that any threat to the United States would be met with "fire and fury".

 

NAVAL CHIEF
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, who is on an official visit to Germany, visited German Naval Academy at Flensburg and German Submarine Naval Base at Eckernforde, Germany.

According to a press release issued by Pakistan Navy, the Naval Chief was received by Commandant German Naval Academy Admiral Kay-Achim Shonbach upon his arrival at the Academy.

During the meeting, both the officials discussed professional matters of mutual interest.

Najam Sethi was elected new chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board today.

A special meeting of the Board of Governors was held in this connection at National Cricket Academy Lahore.

Later chairing a meeting of the board Najam Sethi vowed to work together with all the stakeholders for betterment of cricket.


WEATHER

Mainly hot and very humid weather is expected in most parts of the country.

However, rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kalat, Zhob divisions, Islamabad, FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Light rain and drizzle is also expected at a few places in Sindh coast.
