Prime Minister has directed to undertake proactive measures for increasing water storage capacity of the country.

Four security personnel, including a Major, have been martyred during an operation in Timergara area of district Dir.

In Occupied Kashmir, Indian troops martyred another three Kashmiri youth in in Tral area of Pulwama district today.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has directed the Minister for Water Resources to undertake proactive measures for increasing water storage capacity of the country.

Talking to Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah in Islamabad today, he called for planning for new water reservoirs and implementing on-going projects on fast track.

The Prime Minister stated that water security is of prime concern for the government in view of impacts of climate change on Pakistan.

He said the government is cognizant of the water management issues and has therefore established separate ministry for water resources.


Talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said the Government is focusing on mainstreaming FATA at par with other federating units.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that consensus building among all stakeholders on important issues relating to FATA is the priority.

He emphasized that improvements in health, education and human resource capacity building is necessary for upgrading socio-economic status of FATA residents.


British Prime Minister Theresa May says the United Kingdom will remain a long-standing and dependable friend of Pakistan.

She said this in a message of felicitation to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on assuming office of the Prime Minister.

The British Prime Minister said Pakistan and the United Kingdom have deep ties with shared history and future.

She pointed out that as Pakistan celebrates its 70th independence anniversary, we also celebrate 70 years of our bilateral relationship.

Theresa May said British High Commission in Islamabad and the Foreign Office in London have arranged a series of events in the UK and Pakistan to mark this special occasion, which have her full support.

The British Prime Minister said she looks forward to work with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to further deepen historic bilateral relationship, and to build a secure, stable, and prosperous Pakistan.


Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left Islamabad for his Lahore journey today leading a PML-N carvan.

Nawaz Sharif is expected to address his supporters and party workers at different places en route to Lahore.

Our correspondent reports that PML (N) workers have made elaborate arrangements to give tumultuous welcome to the former Prime Minister at different places along the route.

A large number of PML-N leaders and activists saw him off at D-Chowk, Islamabad.

Four security personnel, including a Major were martyred while foiling a devastating terrorist activity at Sherotkai, Timergara in Dir today.

According to ISPR, Major Ali Salman along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist hideout in the area in the wee hours.

As raid was being conducted, the terrorists opened fire. One of two terrorists present in hideout exploded himself while the other was killed in exchange of fire. One terrorist was apprehanded alive during the operation.

The martyred security personnel include Major Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Prime Minsiter Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed deep grief over martyrdom of four army personnel including Major Ali Salman.


Minister for Defence Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan has commended the armed forces for foiling valiantly a devastating terrorist activity in Timergara.

In a statement, he said sacrifices by our heroes fortify the nation's unity and resolve.

Khurram Dastgir said the entire nation is proud of the armed forces fighting to safeguard the country from the menace of terrorism.

People took to the streets in the area and staged protest demonstrations against the operation. Indian troops fired bullets and pellets to disperse the protesters.

The joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for a complete shutdown on Saturday to protest against the Indian plan to change the state subject law in valley.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Yasin Malik described the investigations of National Investigation Agency as revengeful politics being played by India.

Light rain and drizzle is also expected at a few places in Sindh coast.
