Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has directed the Minister for Water Resources to undertake proactive measures for increasing water storage capacity of the country.
Talking to Minister for Water Resources Syed Javed Ali Shah in Islamabad today, he called for planning for new water reservoirs and implementing on-going projects on fast track.
The Prime Minister stated that water security is of prime concern for the government in view of impacts of climate change on Pakistan.
He said the government is cognizant of the water management issues and has therefore established separate ministry for water resources.
Talking to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in Islamabad, the Prime Minister said the Government is focusing on mainstreaming FATA at par with other federating units.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that consensus building among all stakeholders on important issues relating to FATA is the priority.
He emphasized that improvements in health, education and human resource capacity building is necessary for upgrading socio-economic status of FATA residents.

Four security personnel, including a Major were martyred while foiling a devastating terrorist activity at Sherotkai, Timergara in Dir today.
According to ISPR, Major Ali Salman along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist hideout in the area in the wee hours.
As raid was being conducted, the terrorists opened fire. One of two terrorists present in hideout exploded himself while the other was killed in exchange of fire. One terrorist was apprehanded alive during the operation.
The martyred security personnel include Major Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued in Islamabad, Prime Minsiter Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed deep grief over martyrdom of four army personnel including Major Ali Salman.
