Prime Minister says Government is focusing on mainstreaming FATA at par with other federating units.

NAWAZ DEPARTURE:

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has left Islamabad for his Lahore journey at the head of a PML-N delegation.   

 

Nawaz Sharif is expected to address his supporters and party workers at different places en route to Lahore.

 

Our correspondent reports that PML (N) workers have made elaborate arrangements to give tumultuous welcome to the former Prime Minister at different places along the route.

 

Earlier, carrvan of the former prime minister gathered at D Chowk, Islamabad from where it is proceeding toward G.T. Road.

 

A large number of PML-N leaders and activists saw him off.                        

 

AHSAN:

Earlier, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal reviewed the travel route of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

    

He gave instructions for security arrangements.

    

Meanwhile, talking to newsmen in Islamabad, PML (N) spokesperson Dr. Asif Kirmani denounced closure of cable network and said it amounts to depriving people of Pakistan to witness people's love for Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

     

He demanded immediate restoration of cable service.                      

 

MUQAM:

President PML (N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Amir Muqam says ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has taken bold steps for making Pakistan a strong and a developed nation.

 

Addressing party workers near Swabi Interchange on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway on Wednesday,  he said Nawaz Sharif is still ruling over hearts and mind of people and he will continue to play a positive role in national politics.

 

Amir Muqam said PML (N) is the most popular political party of the country.

 

Later the PML (N) workers led by Amir Muqam left for Islamabad in a vehicular procession to join Nawaz Sharif carvan leaving for Lahore.                                                                                                       

PM-BRITAIN:

British Prime Minister Ms. Theresa May says the United Kingdom will remain a long-standing and dependable friend of Pakistan.

    

She said this in a message of felicitation to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on assuming the office of the Prime Minister.

    

The British Prime Minister said Pakistan and the United Kingdom have deep ties with shared history and future.

 

She pointed out that as Pakistan celebrates its 70th anniversary, we also celebrate 70 years of our bilateral relationship.

     

Ms. Theresa May said British High Commission in Islamabad and the Foreign Office in London have arranged a series of events in the UK and Pakistan to mark this special occasion, which have her full support.

     

The British Prime Minister said she looks forward to working with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to further deepen historic bilateral relationship, and to build a secure, stable, and prosperous Pakistan.                     

 

PM-JHAGRA:

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the Government is focusing on mainstreaming FATA at par with other federating units.

    

He was talking to Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra in Islamabad on Wednesday.

    

Development projects of FATA were discussed in the meeting.

    

The Prime Minister stated that consensus building among all stakeholders on important issues relating to FATA is the priority.

     

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi emphasized that improvements in health, education and human resource capacity building is necessary for upgrading socio-economic status of FATA residents.                    

 

SENATE:

The Senate will resume its session in Islamabad at 3.30 in on Wednesday afternoon.

 

The house will discuss important national issues, besides legislative business.

                    

ISPR:

Four security personnel, including a Major sacrificed their lives while foiling a devastating terrorist activity at Sherotkai, Timergara in Dir.

 

Maj Ali Salman of intelligence agency along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist hideout in the area in the wee hours on Wednesday.

 

As raid was being conducted, the terrorists opened fire. One of two terrorists present in hideout exploded himself while the other was killed in exchange of fire.

 

One terrorist was apprehended live during the operation. The martyred security personnel include Maj Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim.

 

In a statement issued in Islamabad on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed deep grief over martyrdom of four army personnel including Major Ali Salman at Timergara.

 

The Prime Minister stated that our valiant forces have inflicted huge damage upon terrorist elements but at the same time they have rendered huge sacrifices in doing so.

 

He said each drop of blood of our heroes is a testament to the fact that we all are united as a nation to cleanse our beloved motherland from terrorist elements.

 

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi declared that cowardly attacks on our law enforcing agencies can never flinch our resolve to back-off or slow down in our resolve to continue with anti-terror operations.

 

The Prime Minister said the war against terrorism is a war for the survival of Pakistan as an independent country.

 

HOOK-UP

Radio Pakistan will broadcast in its National Hook-up at 15:30 hours on Wednesday a special interview of Justice (Retd) Nasira Javed Iqbal under the interview series "MUJHE RASTA BANANA HEY" in connection with the "70-years of Independence Celebration of Pakistan".

                         

POLIO:

The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund has decided to hire female staff for polio eradication campaign in Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

 

Official sources told our Peshawar correspondent that initially about sixty female staff, including community and social mobilizers, would be hired in Bajaur Agency.

 

The sources said male staff in all other agencies will be replaced with female staff in phases.

 

The move is aimed at mobilizing community to eliminate polio from tribal areas.

Najam Sethi was elected new Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday.

 

A special meeting of the Board of Governors was held in this connection at National Cricket Academy Lahore.

 

Later chairing a meeting of the board Najam Sethi vowed to work together with for betterment of cricket.       

 

KASHMIR

In Occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference says New Delhi is using National Investigation Agency as a war weapon against Hurriyet leadership.

 

APHC spokesman, in a statement in Srinagar, criticized the agency for summoning  Dr Nayeem Gilani and Dr Naseem Gilani, the sons of APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani.

 

The spokesman said the India authorities have virtually accepted defeat and they are now subjecting Syed Ali Gilani and his two sons to physical and mental torture.  

 

The spokesman termed the arrest of APHC General Secretary, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and summoning of Gilani's sons as the worst human rights violations.                

 

QATAR

The United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have granted Qatar Airways new routes after over two months of Gulf blockade.

 

As part of the blockade all Qatari-registered aircrafts were restricted from flying over international waters in the Gulf controlled by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

 

Qatar has hailed the decision a great success.
