Former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the head of PML-N caravan is leaving Islamabad for Lahore on Wednesday at the head of a PML-N caravan.

NAWAZ DEPARTURE:

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the head of a PML-N caravan, has left Punjab House in Islamabad for his Lahore journey.

    

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Members of the Federal Cabinet, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and PML (N) leaders and workers were present on the occasion.

 

Carvan of the former prime minister is gathering at D Chowk, Islamabad from where it is to reach Faizabad via Zeropoint.

 

Nawaz Sharif is expected to address his supporters and party workers at different places en route to Lahore.

 

Our correspondent reports that PML (N) workers have made elaborate arrangements to give tumultuous welcome to the former Prime Minister.                               

 

PM-SARTAJ:

Former Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad on Wednesday.

    

They discussed issues of mutual interest.                  

 

ISPR:

Four security personnel, including a Major sacrificed their lives while foiling a devastating terrorist activity at Sherotkai, Timergara in Dir.

 

Maj Ali Salman of intelligence agency along with his team conducted an Intelligence Based Operation against a terrorist hideout in the area in the wee hours on Wednesday.

 

As raid was being conducted, the terrorists opened fire. One of two terrorists present in hideout exploded himself while the other was killed in exchange of fire.

 

One terrorist was apprehended live during the operation. The martyred security personnel include Maj Ali Salman, Havaldar Ghulam Nazir, Havaldar Akhtar and Sepoy Abdul Karim.

 

In a statement issued in Islamabad on Wednesday, Prime Minsiter Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed deep grief over martyrdom of four army personnel including Major Ali Salman at Timergara.

 

The Prime Minister stated that our valiant forces have inflicted huge damage upon terrorist elements but at the same time they have rendered huge sacrifices in doing so.

 

He said each drop of blood of our heroes is a testament to the fact that we all are united as a nation to cleanse our beloved motherland from terrorist elements.

 

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi declared that cowardly attacks on our law enforcing agencies can never flinch our resolve to back-off or slow down in our resolve to continue with anti-terror operations.

 

The Prime Minister said the war against terrorism is a war for the survival of Pakistan as an independent country.

 

FUNERAL:

Meanwhile, the Namaz-e-Janaza of Shaheed Major Ali Salman and Shaheed Hawaldar Akhtar Ali was offered in Upper Dir on Wednesday.

 

Corps Commander Lt General Nazir Ahmad Butt, Inspector General Frontier Corps Major General Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood and other Civil and military officials attended the funeral.           

 

TRAIN:

Pakistan Railways has announced schedule of Azadi Train, to be run on the occasion of country's 70th Independence Day.

 

The journey of this special train will begin from Margalla Station Islamabad on Saturday 12th August and conclude at Karachi on 25th of this month.

 

The special train includes five galleries, depicting sacrifices rendered for achieving independence.

 

The galleries also depict sacrifices of the armed forces and Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

 

These galleries will also depict the culture of all provinces.

   

NA-ADJOURNMENT:

The National Assembly which resumed its session on Wednesday morning, has been adjourned to meet again on Thursday morning at 10:30.

 

No agenda item could be taken up on Wednesday due to lack of quorum.                           

 

POLIO:

The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund has decided to hire female staff for polio eradication campaign in Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

 

Official sources told our Peshawar correspondent that initially about sixty female staff, including community and social mobilizers, would be hired in Bajaur Agency.

 

The sources said male staff in all other agencies will be replaced with female staff in phases.

 

The move is aimed at mobilizing community to eliminate polio from tribal areas.                              

 

HRW

Human Rights Watch has said that Israel is pushing Palestinian residents of Jerusalem to leave their homes through a policy of systematic transfer in sheer violation of international law.

 

In a report, the New York based human right group, while quoting figures provided by Israel’s Interior Ministry said Israel has revoked the status of at least 14,595 Palestinians between 1967 and 2016.
