The 265th session of Senate started at the Parliament House in Islamabad on Wednesday afternoon with Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani in the chair.

At the outset of the session, the Chairman announced the Panel of Presiding Officers for the current session.

Member elect of the House Agha Shahzaib Durrani took oath as member of the House. The Chairman administered the oath to him.

The Senate held discussion on a motion moved by thirty Senators on three issues today.

These include the present political situation and the way forward-role of the parliament, measures to combat corruption with focus on off-shore companies, across the board accountability and a new accountability mechanism and closure of Khokhrapar Border in Sindh.

Taking part in the discussion, the members stressed the need for taking practical steps to curb corruption.

They said the Parliamentarians should play their role for across the board accountability.
